Does anyone in Australia buy complete exhausts from Japan, like the Toda bolt on complete exhausts? That is what I would like, but too expensive I guess. Nissan drivers however probably have more money.

jonny. buddy parts will have some 2nd hand.

under diff is easier, straighter, and so cheaper and maybe flows a bit better.

if your car is pretty low, and has short stroke shox, it can be made to work legally.

a flange is an ok idea but.. its really not that hard to remove your whole system. usually home built systems dont use all the hanger points, so its pretty easy.

also, removing your WHOLE diff assembly isnt something you should need to do very often at all.

I debated with myself on this one for a long time before doing my system.

Yes, imports have them under the driveshafts (as close to the diff as possible as to not interfere with the suspension dropping etc.) but as said before, independant rear end allows this.

I wouldnt go under diff for the simple reason that every time the car is jacked up its going to be in the way. The slight restriction that far down the system is not going to affect anything turbo(ed), and if anything would probably be better for performance for the N/A guys amongst us, as most are running exhausts too big anyway.

Here's mine, over diff.... 3" Mandrel - No excuses now guys, my car runs as low as any 86 with functioning suspension can. Admittedly, I have now scalloped the sub frame to allow further clearance, but originally had the exhaust over diff without altering the body in any way.

Oh, and did I mention its a Hilux diff - A fair bit bigger than the average S or T series.

Jeez clean undercarriage Medwin, I'm guessing your's is a turbo hence the 3" pipeing?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, Think i'll prob go the under diff route.
1st reason, I'm making it myself and would be alot more effort to go over the diff and 2nd reason, well it seems to work without any problems.

Besides, I jack the rear of my car up from the diff anyways, so won't have any problems with it hitting the exhaust, however I'll install a flange for the muffler anyways.

On another note, what about 02 sensor placement. I've seen some aftermarket extractors run them on one of the runners, will this be just as good as the factory location, after the collector? Considering that having it in a single runner may slightly impede the flow of one cylinder and only measure that cylinder?

Oh and is a flex pipe really neccessary?

you need a flex if youre gonna drift it. clutch kicks = engine rocking = your exhaust falling off after a few track days.

the o2 sensor placement isnt really an issue. the idea is as close to the port as possible for the best reading.
