Hey guys, has anybody modified an 86 pedal box to fit a ke70?
ive got one coming for mine and i could do with some advice for fitting it in.
if it doesn't want to fit im gonna make it fit regardless because i still think it'll be easier than modifying my old ke70 set...
I probably could've sorced an AE71 box but im too impatient for that so i went with the 86 option :peek:
If there is enough interest i will post up my progress and try and help others who journey down the same path :yeah:
Thanks guys...

wont fit without some mods. Bit of work needed to make it fit really. you'll need a welder and some bits of steel to make a bracket.
easier to make a T18 one fit. or even less work to mod the KE one to suit a Hydraulic master

yeah we got plate steel and a mig at the workshop so i might go for that option :)
i think ghetto is the way to go but if any body wants to see how i ghetto it up let me know and i'll do a "bush mechanics" post up of the whole thing :P

ive done it. if you have a mig and some steel, its not that hard. just take your time getting the placement right.

I've just swapped a manual KE70 into my auto. A bit of a mission getting them in and out..
Why the AE86 pedals?

because if you want to use a 4age with a t50 for example, you will need a hydraulic clutch set up.
ke70 is cable. ae71 is hydraulic, but rare and expensive.

shows the difference in pedal boxes. you might need to hack it up a bit to make room for the 86 pedal.

Ah- I see. There is an '84 AE71 at the wreckers here in Orange with a clutch cyl & pedal box in... $90 plus pstage would buy it, not sure if that's expensive or not.

ive done the AE86 pedal box into a KE70, the easiest way to do it is to start with an auto ke70 pedal box of grind/cut/smash the clutch part off a manual box. Then cut and modify the clutch part of a AE86 pedal box and weld it onto the side. You also have to reshape the pedal aswell so it fits right. Theres a pic on the motorFIX website where they are selling a ready made pedal box modified exactly how i just explained, have a look at that.
