AE86 zenki what axles?
Drum?
Disc?
Square?
Purple?

And just so you know, the answer to your question is almost definitely no they aren't compatible.

I thought zenki (disk) axles used double row bearings and t-18 (drum) axles used single row bearings...

correct..

in theory ( i dont know for sure)
but zenki ae86/ae85 drum brake rear end should have the same axel/bearing assembly as our local T18

zenki disc have a double row bearing and thus different axel to accomodate..

kouki disc bigger everything, double row bearing etc..

adm s series zenki drum, same axel ( near enough?) different bearing as T18 i havent actually done this yet but with a bearing change the t18 and adm s series axels look to be interchangeable

has someone tryed before ??

The TE71 and AE86 share almost every part of the rear axle assembly, including LSD, discs, drums, axles, brakes, tailshafts, axle housings, axle bearings etc... if they came with the T seires diff (not S series).

There are 2 main versions of the T series axle assembly. Disc and drum. And there are disc and drum specific axle housings, axles, axle bearings and brakes.

Consider 2 cars. TE71 (or TE72 "T-18 SE"), and the AE86 GT (JDM). Both have T series with drums. Both cars have the same wheel bearings.

Consider another 2 cars. TE71 GT, and AE86 GTV. Both have T series discs. Both cars have the same wheel bearings.

There is no difference in wheel bearings between early and late model AE86.

All cars with disc brakes (TE71, AE86) use wide double row axle bearings.

All cars with T series drum brakes (TE71, TE72, AE86) use single row axle bearings.

I always thought there was. But according to toyodiy partslist there is the same PN!

So the difference is just the axle spline size then?

Nice one Jonny

ah i would guess at around 60$ each side... you may be able to get a proper wheel bearing kit through bursons which includes the seal and press on lock ring/sleeve, the bearing part number is usually printed on the side of the bearing outer, any bearing supplier should be able to help you out maybe take the axel in with the bearing if your unsure ?

Yes, the difference is drum to disc. I'm glad people are catching on.

And the double row bearings for the disc axles are very hard or expensive to get. I havn't had to order them myself yet. I doubt Bursons or Repco could help you, as the part is for a grey import. You can get them genuine Toyota at a price. Probably $260 per side at a guess from the last I heard.

04421-14010 bearing kit, for disc brake TE70, TE71, AE86 and TA64 Celica.
(includes 1 bearing and 1 press on collor.)

Do NOT EVER THROW DISC BRAKE AXLES AWAY. Give them to me, with or without bearings.

90311-52059 rear axle seal for disc axles.

I got these new myself. Only about $6 each.

then i guess i just have to hope locker only messed up my seals not the bearings, cause realisticly i dont know how accurate toyodiy is with their prices but axle seals are not worth 210 a pair i could put an extra 100 in and prob get a diff from a wreckers n use that then will always be cheaper for bearings

So is this part no correct for drum t series? I just got that seal and can't find where the fuck it goes, the seal that is in the housing seems much bigger than the seal I have

In 2008 I purchased double row axle bearings from Allied Bearings. Was $82.94 per side, and that was for a kit with seals. Some of the ToyoDIY prices are crazy.

CBC also had a kit available, or could supply the correct ones. Just plonk your old bearings on the counter of any bearing shop and they'll whip out their calipers and match them.

inner axel seal can be purchased from your local repco/bursons no problems disc or drum t series, ask for t18 or ta23 ra23 celica
