use the Corona XT130 Knuckle arm then the normal RCA

^^ umm well that might work usually but this is kinda tricky Rthy

My mate has massive front brakes that actually knock the lip on the lower control arm, his control arms have also been strengthened so he really wants to use these ones apparently grinding 2mm off the ends will work but he would prefer not too weaken the ball joint and end of the arm.

I came up with the soloution of using NC RCAs to offset the disc away from the control arm and ofcourse also giving the benefit of extra track and camber.

the knuckle arms are a bit different (as seen on the top) should be able to use the standard tie end rods also
u can use the old lca and slap the knuckle or idle arm what ever u call

wouldn't chookhouse tuning have some in that size in stock ? or be able to make them faster than waiting for a set faster that anything coming from the US

[MET]

sorry but what is cookhouse? got the info? thanks

I can have a set here from the States by Friday at the lastest Monday

this is turning into a tech thread lol!

hmm Rthy I think the problem is, that he has Power Steering arms aswell, so the fact of changing the lower control arm wont fix the problem, pretty sure it is fouling the PS Arm not the lower control arm like he said, by that pic thats what I suspect anyway

see the pic, this is what I think is happening, he is using massive front brake setup and it fouls here...an NC RCA will offset the disc just enough to clear these spots, well thats my logic anyway

cool thanks, yeah a few probs the others that have been encountered in the strut and shock etc. have been sorted then they came across this when bolting it together, I guess it is to be expected when you butcher parts from 3 or more different cars for the front end and braking setup http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

[MET]

yeah might have to wait, they are actually for Tony who you have dealt with before, he doesnt use the net much, I am chasing them up for him, he will know by Wednesday from his Mech if this will fix the issues he is having, thanks Dave will let him know and get in contact with you if he needs them

actually I have not seen the struts brakes myself and where it is fouling but it may not be where I showed it sounds like it is the control not the PS arm right at the bottom which isnt visible in that pic, dont know forsurel. I just know this will fix it.

sounds like pug / corona set up running longer lca's . Get some t3 camber plates then machine bushes that work for the spring perch , then retap the bolts to metric , then swap them left to right for any caster as per JDM spec cars . Hang on that sounds like a lot of work too , maybe get noltec ones instead http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

^^ correct you are, these are Kenneths old brakes/struts, BUT they are using stock ADM LCA which have apparently been strengthened? plates welded on them etc. It also is using PS arms, it is running tein adj strut tops, apparently when the discs are bolted on it fouls the LCA even when they are straight not to mention turned with any lock.

My mate was advised that most people just grind off 2-3mm off the LCA to fix the problem, but the mech has advised against this ofcourse and I came up with the solution of using NCRCAs instead of RCAs hoping this would work to offsett the strut away from the LCA and where it is fouling, this work technically work yes?

Could go to a longer ra40 ta22 ra60 xt lca to spacer the ball joint away from the disc . Ahh the joy of the toyota struts http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif or go a ra60 offset steering arm . Or sell it and do it correctly ?
