Its just that this is probaly the pinicle of Naturally Aspairated engines that u could get and people dream of having an engine like this so its sort of an insult when u ask questions like u did but as u say u r still learning.

Pinnacle of TOYOTA n/a motors.... I'm sure some of the honda (out of jap stuff) and ferrari/bmw boys would have something to say about a beams 3sge being even near the pinnacle of n/a

In consideration to AE86's i mean as it is a toyota.

Pffft. Hwo cares about it being the "pinnacle of N/a" or not. It's hot.
That's all taht needs to be said.

I know that its hot. I'd like one in an 86 for sure.

Just making the point clear that its quite overrated by some people (and of course underrated by others). If you look at some of the small ferrari V8s and the honda s2k motor...... Doesn't really compare

But it's also a lot more affordable than any of those motors. You can't really compare a ferrari with a toyota. Thats like comparing an F1 car and a V8 supercar.
Maybe in its class it would rank near the top. There wouldn't be many "affordable" NA 4 cylinder engines that were better.

I agree dude, it is overrated by alot of people. 225hp n/a 2.0litre isn't bad, but yeah ti's got nothing on the ferrari's etc. note that I wasn't one of the people who said it's the pinnacle, casue quite simply, I don't.
It's hot, but not that hot.

Good shit nafey.

Flamingheads, Im not 100% sure but i think an s2k motor would be quite similar in price as the beams 3s. Almost definetly more, but I dont think that much more...

Also, there are 2 types of beams 3sge, theres the first version and the second version.

As far as I know the only differences are the VVTI systems, of which the first had vvt-i and red cam top, and the second had DUAL vvti and black cam top... Oh and the second version has higher compression and titanium valves

First version makes 200hp.
Second version makes 206hp @ 7800rpm

Being that this engine goes for under $5000 and a ferrari engine would be $20000 or something stupid like that they cant really be put in the same class.

Thats a freakin awesome engine. Would love one to put into my hachi one day but i just couldnt see it happening lol http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif for that knda money you could have a 2j and a getrag box maybe... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/fap.gif

I reckon Ferraris engines would cost a fair bit more than 20,000 as well man...i pulled apart a gallardo engine the other day and that was worth 36,000... Pretty good buy for a v10 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
