very good, i had 3 of those models, built up 2 as they were and the 3rd built to be replica of my real gold86. looked really good up on display on my shelf until the cat decided wanted to get up on the shelf and it would not support the weight and came tumbling down. The cat was not harmed in the fall as 3 hachi models broke his fall. everything else on the shelf was ok including a full bottle of johnnie walker green lable (dont know why it didnot smash but am glad) but my models were trashed http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

Here's my other model,a Tamiya R33 Calsonic Skyline. I went into so much detail with this thing it took me about a month to complete... then my now ex girlfriend thought it was a push along model and broke off the wing, mirrors, side pipes and both back wheels. But i fixed it so it's alright now.

I'm hopefully going to do one soon, the kit is on order from Japan, finally been shipped after 3 months of pre-order and delays.
Its an Aoshima early type Levin hatch, and I can tell you the Aoshima kit shits all over the Fujimi one. Much more realistic body proportions (Fujimi one is fudged to fit a motor in the back and battery in the front), not to mention...FULL ENGINE BAY DETAIL, thats right, 16v 4AGE and all engine bay bits and pieces.
Don't expect to be able to buy one from your local hobby shop here in Australia.

Will update when it turns up.

meadan

if you look hard enough and have someone to get them, theres quite a few different versions. but essentially all the fujimi brand ones are the same, and the aoshima ones are a tad different.
im not sure on prices now, i got mine for like 40 bucks

meadan
7th November 2006, 09:49 PM
haha thanks.
well i cut the bonnet open myself, i used a hibby knife.
the whole engine bay is pretty much scratch built from random bits of plastic and other materials. i stole the top half of the engine from an aw11 model kit, though i cut the supercharger and stuff off.
this one took heaps long to build it all, but it was before aoshima released their kits, so i had to make it all.
maybe we should start a model building kits and tips thread http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
i also have a few others..

Kit ex Japan is about 1800JPY, shipping will cost from about 1500JPY to 2500ish, depending whether you go SAL 7-14 days, or EMS 3-5 days. I only got one this time, originally ordered 3 but my credit card went http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/crazy.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif so I had to just get one.

So EMS shipped this one cost 4340JPY or $48.

With almost all modelkit stuff from Japan the shipping is the killer. 90% of the time its still cheaper than local shops, sometimes it isn't. Buy when the dollar is up on the yen.

http://www.hlj.com (good site, all english as its run by Americans in Japan. Prices average, service awesome, don't get all the really rare stuff but worth checking out)

http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/eindex.asp (this one is the best for aoshima stuff, factory outlet so to speak, but their ordering system is kind of Engrish styles and they can be slow. Cheap though, and can get the earliest pre orders and all the limited edition stuff like the bosozoku/yankey style stuff).
Stretchwall slicks on deep dish rubber up for preorder there now too..

http://www.1999.co.jp (not too bad, I find them slow, but at leasy you can see close up pics of most kit contents and instructions).

I'm laying off buying models for a while. I have two group A R31 skylines, a group A 635CSI BMW, Group A starion, widebody L28 powered Hakosuka, and an R30 Skyline Gr.5 Super Silhouette to do before the AE86, lol. And theres more kits in the cupboard. I've been building my collection for a few years.

The jap shops I posted the urls to. Look under 1/24 wheel and tyre sets, fujimi and Aoshima make them, looking at 500-1500JPY per set of four. Hundreds of varieties. Fujimi do more old schoolie ones.

http://www.americansatco.com is also good for older, out of production Aoshima wheelsets.

green_boy_91 ,
Aoshima make a TE72 Corolla, dead ringer for a KE70 of course. Relatively limited production, http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/eindex.asp you'll be most likely to get it there, not in production at the moment.

HLJ do have it in stock NOW, I'd order quick if you want one. Get some rims and stuff while you're there...

bumping an old thread

found this kit at my local hobby shop the other night. new to the area spot this hobby shop, i'm like "sweet i'll have a look" OMG first model i spot in the car section is this one http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif it quickly became a must have item.

JDM Kouki Levin 1:24

its a Fujimi kit from what appears to be the "racing stars" series this is number 6 in the series and is the "Mito Natto" racing 86

all means nothing to me http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

has bride seats, cage, JDM wing and lip etc. DEVASTATED to find the Avans aren't in the box the kit instead comes with some ghey as 6 spokes. everything else is right, has all the sticker s and stuff like on the box. it's not likle someone took them either thats just the way the kit is it just doesn't include the sik rims, was a little pissed.

if anyone has some 1:24 rims let me know

meh pics
