Hey all,

Well, need an intercooler for my 4AGTE and I'm wondering what people are using. I've got a streeter kit and don't want something hanging out below it. My guess is the following:

Core: 600x200x100

Realistically this is impossible to get. I've found one that is 600x230x74, with 2.5" inlets, however the bastard has really big end tanks so it ends up being around 780mm long, which is just a bit big to use between the front bumper supports. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

I'm only using a KKR330, so don't need an insanely large cooler... just need something reasonable and that fits my hole nice and tight. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

yeah, a 600x300 core wont fit without headlight mods, the 600x230 might fit but have issues with piping. I highly recommend a core of 450x300

I was going to do the dodge and cut one side of the bumper supports, and cut 2.5" piping holes in the sheet that's directly in line with the support brackets, and do a u bend into the engine bay.... would that work? Hmm, might end up going for a smaller 450x300, with end tanks that would fill up the front bar pretty well, and I don't think it would be exactly bad with a KKR330.

heres a couple of pics of my intercooler.

450x300x75

Had to chop bonnet latch support, so made the intercooler the support instead. Needed a couple of holes cut in the sheet metal just under the lights to fit around a/c rad. It doesn't stick out past a standard bumper, so you won't have any troubles with an aftermarket bar. As far as cooling goes, it seems to be working alright. Just need to get a heat shield for the pod and i'll be laughing.

Use a GTI-R cooler man. A Stock on. They are good for abot 400hp, so it'll handle a 4AGTE fairly well. There are somewhere around 400x400x 70ish.

Think I'll opt for a 450x300x74 with 3" inlets. Easy to fit in, and won't be hard to get piping to work for it. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif Thanks guys.

I am using a PWR Aero 2 600x300x78 and its way to big. I am also keeping my AC which means that the intercooler sticks out way to far. Had to modify my vertex bar to try and fit it.

custom FTW!!!

speak to craig at extreme engineering, although i have no idea where your from as the field where your ment to put your city/suburb was left blank..

he is in brisbane, like me.. fabricate one for the job at hand.. prolly work out cheaper and a bit less of a headache.. plus those cheap $200 intercoolers are.... well.... are worth thier weight in sand...

NickAE86 - that is very good setup on your Intercooler.

Note the end tanks - central inlet and a nice open end tanks that promote flow through the entire core excellent for good flow. also note the piping is making nice open radius turns, not sharp more than 90degree bends. What Core did you use for that setup?
