*hugs my autronic* you can pick up second hand ones for fairly cheap now

saying that, those adaptonic ones are pretty good!

Best ecu on the market would be motec
Best value prob microtech
easiest to use, anything that is laptop programable, most ecu software is free to download - so try downloading some and playing around with it.

at the end of the day, most do the same thing and are tuned once and never tuned again.

Have a look at the features of each one your interested in, see what you needs are, versus the price Alot of the new stuff thats out is overkill for a street car, so 2nd hand or outdated models can save you some $$$,
And then check the tuning software, check it yourself, and if your going to use a mechanic, or dyno, find out what your guy has experience with.
Cover yourself for what you need or might need for your engine and car needs.
And remeber the ECU is only as good as the guy tuning it.
And dont bother with stuff that is not computer programable, personally I think it's outdated and takes to long to tune alot of the time.
People might disagree with this though..! Goodluck

My car is running a wolf 3d V4 on a 4agze, im happy with it.

out of curiosity
do any of the current market learn as they go
ie an intelligent ecu with sensors

Most of the ECU's listed are of fly-by-wire orientation, they'll learn as they go.

so they can be left in something that is like an autotune mode that cosntantly improves the mapping and making fine tune adjustment depending upon load weather engine condition etc ?
i ask as ive desired an ecu like this for gawd 15 years or some shit ...

only problem is a good quality wide band lambada sensor (o2 sensor) is worth $900 +... i would go trusting your new highly modified engine on a bosch o2 sensor that you picked up from supercheap..

if you want to run in constant open loop self lerning mode, many people have told me you must run a good high end o2 sensor..

Most tuners aren't educated enough to tune a car for "constant open loop self lerning mode" using the lambada however if your considering tuning the car yourself this would be the safest option.
Haltech provides lambada sensors for their ecu's. Same with Motec

It doesn't matter what ecu you decide to choose, it's important that you choose a good tuner with years experience such as hitman or JEM.

Not that expensive, the Bosche LS4 wide-band goes for between $300 - $360 and they're about as good as you'll get.

i see, maybe i had the wrong intormation!! or looked at the wrong price.. $360 should be well within the price range http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

My Techedge happened to cost $900 matty but it has 6 extra datalogging inputs, onboard flash, a display etc etc.

You can get sub $400 units from innovative etc. and they're well worth it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

The forum is -> http://www.createphpbb.com/phpbb/index.php...orum=adaptronic (http://www.createphpbb.com/phpbb/index.php?sid=017111c3d1517ae21a57f1be6119c5bf&mforum=adaptronic)

Got lots of clever little bits to them, much better than a Microtech and from what I've seen better than the E6K's as well.

Just wondering if the Adaptronic ECU would be good for a more aggressive NA 4age setup such as quads, cams ect ???. Other than that i was told EMS stinger is the one to use

FWIW I partly tuned a 20V in Malaysia that was much like that. I didn't have a lamda probe so I was only guessing most of the time but it ended up driving okay. It later got tuned properly on a dyno and ran really well.
