Heya,
I was just wondering how much oil you need to fill the diff on a sprinter? Old mate from repco told me 1lt would be enough however he is wrong http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
Thanks for you help http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

i was taught to always fill my diff's until they start coming out the filler plug. the figure i quoted is for a T sereis but i can't see there being a 1 litre difference in capacity.
at the moment i run 2.5 litres in my t series. removed th left axle and unbolted the right coilover and filled it through the axle tube.
i stand by my orignal figure of 2 litre http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

1.5ltrs is all you'll need, if diff is level oil will drop out the filler plug when she's has enough, and it'll be around the 1.5ltr mark.
You can get diff oil in 1ltr bottles.

hmmrz, my filler plug is seized/rounded, so I've just been putting 1L down one of the axle tubes, might chuck some more in next time...

I filled it up today and in total it took 1.3L untill some dribbled out :S My diff is an S series ( I think, the standard ADM diff) if that makes any differnce. Either way my diff is now happy and full of nice clean oil
Thanks again for your help http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

how much oif a difference does it make to park it on a really steep hill and fill it with oil can you get more in??
hangon you can't jack it up on a really steep hill....god i'm quick!!
maybe just jack the crap out of the back?
p.s i'm to lazy to remove an axle!!

^^^ http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif i tried that, wasn't enough to make much difference!! i had to drop one shock mount off one side of the diff and jack the other side up.

cool! When you removed the axle how much of the drum did you need to dismantle?
Heres another wacky idea!! Maybe if you get the oil cold enough the viscosity will increase enough so that it is nearly solid then you could squirt it in like grease out of a grease gun then get the bolt back in before it goes runny....maybe the axle idea is easier or building a machine which can stand your car on it's nose.
cheers

pretty much all of it!! had to remove drum, handbrake cable, and the steel line to the wheel cylinder.
i actually probably wouldn't do it as a normal maintennace thing. i just had the axle out anyway so i thought why not?
10/10ths i use is thick as cold. i remember watching Dimitri filling his diff, it was fkn hilarious, "man this shit is sooo thick, i've been trying to fill it for like 40 minutes, you shouldn't be able to call this oil"
