Side Intrusion Bars?

Heres the story my younger brothers AE86 (kouki trueno) has landed and is currently being compilied,
and he was given a Quote of $880 for intrusion bars + engineers report.

Does any body know if intrusion bars are required?
I always assumed that cars manufactured before 1988 didn't require them?

Any help appreciated.

yes inorder for a car to be complied it would need them


If you have some spare doors of a ADM car just put them on and get it the report done, then just put the others back in

^^^ true. i bought some jap doors off 999 automotive but they still had the intrusion bars welded in otherwise tehy could not import their current 86... if ur running with no side intrusion bars once it has been imported and complianced make sure u get a cage with them in or u'l become another 'street racer statistic'

looks like intrusion bars are compulsory ,
he was thinking it wasn't a requirment , at least we know now.

I hope he dosn't get any ideas and steals mine :lol:
