Hey all,

Just curious as to why Kouki Parkers use a brake light type globe with two elements.

Just finished swapping over a complete JDM AE86 Coupe wiring loom into my ADM sprinter for a JDM 16V conversion.
Tested the parkers and found that when I engaged the indicator the park light brightened for the duration the indicator signal was on and then dimmed back...Is this how they supposed to work???

Also does anyone know what the 'P' switch does on a JDM AE86???. (A better description would be a P with three lines in front of it)...Its located next to the fog light switch..

Still new to all this so mind the ignorance.

Cheers.

I believe the P switch is for parkers, much like on Euro cars where the park lights illuminate dimly on the drivers side of the car only when parked in a dark street for visibility.

I have it too but have yet to test it connected to a battery.

Do you have genuine levin foglight wiring? Would be very keen on any photos you could provide of the wiring behind the foglights to the inside guard and if possible at the switch.

i have the P (parker) switch in my car, only conclusion i can come to is that its for foggy/rainy or dark situations, if you put it on only the two front parkers and two rear lights will illuminate,

as for the dual element globe, someone has replaced it with one accidentaly its meant to have a single element, for example i bought the brightest possible single element brake light globes for my parkers, it makes such a difference, you can almost drive comfortably with the parkers on lol

As for you parker brightening when your indicator is on, sounds like you've wired it up to the turning lamp wire. If the headlights are on, the turning lamps (clear white lamps on the corners of the kouki bumper) will come on when you indicate. They go out a couple of seconds after the indicator is switched off again - must be a delay mechanism somewhere. The parkers are the small orange lights beside the indicators, not the clear white ones as you'd expect.

The cornering lamps come in very handy when finding house numbers in the dark!

The parker switch runs the two front orange parkers and tail lights, but not the numberplate lights. I haven't checked whether the front parkers have dual element globes, but there's a good chance that they do for this purpose.

^^ this is true in the case of kouki trueno, not kouki levin. There is no lead-lamps on the Levin.

My bad guys, I forgot to specify that the wiring was off a Levin Coupe.

I didn't do much to the original wiring...I did have to solder the Parker and Headlight wiring back onto the main loom though because initially I was just going to run an ADM loom with all the Levin gear so I just cut the light wires off the JDM loom.

Just wanted to check if the parker lights were supposed to do what I described.

Appreciate all the feedback though...
