That was amazingly un-cool on there part. The despair from the driver as he walked away from it, rough as.

there has been a few simmilar accidents

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJQRl1YIGdA

this one is probably the craziest, south african tom pryce dies, this other dude can't remember who pulls over, marshals come to put out a fire, tom hits one of them cuts his legs clean off and crashes into the pit wall.

something curious to note is no f1 driver has ever died from natural causes, either still alive or died in an accident.

my grandfather basil beall raced f1 in the 50's (world gp back then) and he died when his car fell on him from a rope hoist while he was working on it.

i realise there are other accidents to this scale

i was just in a headfuck at the safety officals all standing around

while the other driver has stopped his car and is frantically trying to tip the car and put the fire out

so fucked up.

what i have noticed in the last couple of month, some countries don't know the value of life at all.

That was some really horrible footage to watch.

Every single person that was just standing there and organisers of the event who have obviously provided a very piss poor safety team/emergency services I hope it has come back to bite them in their life.

I know its 1973, you have to be prepared for the worst, and by the looks of it this was not.

Not cool.

Thats incredible, the sheer unfortune of having it fall on you while working on it. Its very sad.

The safety of Formula 1 (and a lot of other race classes around the world) really didn't improve until the 80s, and even then there were some terrible accidents that occurred that killed and seriously injured drivers and officials.

RIP.

In truth this statement is based in fact Beally but not quite accurate.
The old word was that no F1 world champion had ever died of natural causes. However Denny Hulme's death rendered this statement null, he died naturally of a massive heart attack. Granted it was in a racecar; however he did not perish by accident as he had safely brought the car to rest prior to his expiring.

It is however a sad fact that many who made their livelihood within this cult of speed and danger have died in the most mundane circumstance.

Many tragic deaths besmirch the past of F1 and if one were to believe in the supernatural, one would think the sport haunted by many ghosts of those who died for little reason but want of adequate safety.

i must admit congratulation to the driver who stopped to help Tetsuya Ota. He was exposed to 800-degree temperatures for slomost 90seconds if not longer and suffered 3rd degree burns to face and neck due to his helmet melting onto his face. 6 race sponsors and promoters including TV Tokyo, VICIC and Fuji Speedway were found guilty of gross negligence and were forced to pay ¥300 million.
