Either you don't have Java installed on your machine, or there's something happening with your net connection or browser.

Just tested it, throw in a nick and hit go, and that should be it :)

after a while the chat channel says "TRIAL VERSION" and then you can't chat any further

HydraIRC is free, mIRC is a 30-day trial but I am told that the 30 days is elastic (some people have been using it for years, with no expiration of the trial). Just look for irc.austnet.org, then type /join #ae86dc - you'll be on in no time :)

OK its registered the chat applet now so that means you should be able to idle on there as long as you like without getting kicked off.

Make sure you allow it do download any files it needs, and allow it to run its security certificate.

Try downloading the latest version of Java if that fails
