I just picked up a ST141 corona with a 2s and 4 speed manual. The car is fairly slow and was thinking about doing a 3sge conversion but after some reading on this forum it seems that an SR would be an easyer swap. I was just wondering if anyone here has actualy done this into a corona. After a bit of searching all i have seen on here is alot of my mate said it is a straight bolt in and the guy at the kebab shop said its easy uleah. So i was just wondering who has done this or if you guys can point me in the right direction. Thanks peeps.

SR bolt in = aa141/aa63 crossmember + SR->ae86 mount kit. The motor mounts up but dunno about gearbox crossmember.

That's the easiest "bolt-in" option. You could just make the mounts up yourself.

my bad carina i was thinking of was aa60, aa63 would be a celica as jacob said, specific model with 4A in it, but yeah no idea about the AA141, unless its something out of the 80's timeframe

haha, I realised just now that I wrote AA14* instead of AT14*

Corona came with 4age, 2sc, 22r-e and 3tgte. The problem is finding the crossmember out of AT140 or AA63/AA60.

Probably the best engine for one of these.
I have ST141 too. It is slow too. I was thinking CA18DET as they are so cheap and I kinda hate SR's.
IMO 4AGE wouldn't have enough torque to push the extra weight of a corona, however I have been in an AA63 celica with 4AGE before and it had adequate power to slide. Pretty similar weight too.

yeah CA is not an option for me as i want to go NA so i was thinking built NA SR or NA 4 age

wish i had the cash for a beams. I read threw your build thread ages ago lol its actualy the reason i brought this corona. What about a 3sge FWD motor? i have read a fee threads on converting them it seems like alot of work!! i was also doing some reaserch on the 20valve 4age they seem like they would go ok as well.

You can pick up Beams engine only for less than $2000, same you'd spend on a blacktop 20v or "built" 4age

i have no idea what a 20v is worth but my mate has a 4age that's only worth a couple hundred to me. It doesn't matter if you buy a Beams motor or some old 4age its still going to be second hand and will still be built before its put into the car. Whats the point of going to the trouble of doing a conversion and then having to pull it straight back out again because the motor is not A1?

Wouldnt bother with 4age in corona, N/A SR will pull along well and slide well. $age doesnt have the torque to match the cars weight compared to other engine choices

You mean AT141 and AA63. 'A' motor powered Corona and Celica respectively.

Neither of these models came out in Australia. You may be able to source parts from New Zealand or Japan.

go to trademe or some nz based toyota sites. You'll find one.

but then again, for all that effort, you could just buy a welder and make mounts up yourself. Noone makes a SR into celica mount kit?

Making a mount seems like a daunting task! that is al that would be stopping me!

I supose your right i remember ages ago when i had to change a clutch everyone told me to do it my self and I was just going to take it to some one but ended up doing it my self now i wouldn`t even think twice about having to pull a box out. Maybe i will give it a go and if it doesn't work out then i can get some one to make them for me!
