580 posts and you need to know that?

start reading mate......

but since im at home on a friday night and bored:

ke70

K series motor (4k 1.3L 8V pushrod boat anchor)
K series box (k40 or k50 for manual)
borgy diff (4.1 manual, 4.3 auto)
cable clutch
both flat front and slanty front models available (early 80-82ish and late model 83-84ish)

advantage of ke

flat front is somewhat more desirable to most, there are more of them than ae71.

disadvantage

4k is a peice of crap in stocko form, cant bolt a 4age into, you need xmembers/gbox/hydraulic clutch etc

ae71

4ac engine (1.6L 8V over head cam quite good single carby engine)
t50 5 speed gbox (manual obviosly)
borgy diff (think same ratios as the ke70)
hydraulic clutch

advantage

4ac is quite an underated engine, quite enough power to have alot of fun with.
Pull the 4ac out, and bolt a 4age straight into it with the standard crossmembers and gearbox.

disadvantage

considerably less available than ke70s, only available in the slanty front.

The point I always make, you need a huge list of components to put an A series motor in a KE70. You need everything from an AE71, you can't use any of the KE70 stuff apart from the diff.

But tell your mate to get the KE70, that way there are more AE71's still around for when I put together another car :p
