I own one of those guard rollers, has done 20 guards to date-
i have had no issues with the threads stripping as I go real slow when rolling and gradually pump them guards all the way out!, had paint chipping on some tho but that's the risk you take, heat gun on the paint does help heaps, I found it a pain to use on lowered cars with normal jacks, to get the cars up high enough to use it properly
(the tool is fairly long and requires the car to be quite high up, my lowline trolleyjack and stands only just get it high enough in my driveway) -
I have access to a hoist @ work so I naturally use that! Coz its easier to roll at waist height...
It cost me $130 brand new(TQ branded) from a SP tools dealer that works from a van(like snap on, etc etc)
