If your worried about it being hyour valves, just take it to any work shop for a vac test. RLC or Cylinder Head Warehouse in Capalaba should be fine (both around Smith St) And probably the closest to you.

Took head off on the weekend and took it to a mob that my mechanic recommended.
Turns out the owner is one of our customers at my work
so he vac tested the whole head and spun up all the valves for free
head is ok. which means its pistons/rings time
any tips for a first timer? hah!
He is VERY very well priced.
The place he works at is moderately shanty, and Al looks like a wizard, but he's damn good
