    ohhhh!

    so thats where the pin comes from.

    thats weird as, i can see why you need a deep socket. and can also see why you could also use a socket.

    so on that pic, you have the numbers on there as well. what exactly is that pointy thing for?

    i think the Mr2 aw11 4age's have that same setup? pretty sure ive seen that in the manual.

    Since 4agze's have a larger crank pulley to overdrive the supercharger, you cant set the timing properly as its not really visible to line up (specially in fwd format). If you see the manual, it will show you what it's for. The 0deg mark does not match up with the numbers on the cover but there are 3 notches marked on the crank pulley to line up with the pin

    so you just use a 10mm socket! man i feel like an idiot right now... i just looked at it and presumed i needed some fancy star type socket.

    the mother of all stuff ups is presumption

    The pointer is for timing, as the notches are out from memory.
