problem -i cant get the top braket that holds the steering rack down to come off, i have completely removed both bolts and got it to move, but due to clearance issues from the gearbox and bottom of the engine i cannot actually get the bracket out, it is on the drivers side, the opposite side was fine and had no problems atall, but this one just wont come out, i need to do this to replace the rack bushes with new ones. o if anybody knows any tricks or tips that might help. pleasee let me know cheers

Are you able to try and lever it out
if you force shit enough, you shouldnt have to even get the bracket out.
Or -> unbolt gbox mounts and engine mounts and jack that shit up!
Unbolt the steering rack from intermediate shaft would be the easier way.
Did a pair in 20 minutes no worries not 2 weeks ago.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
got it all done like just after i posted this i ened up jacking the front wheels off the ground, then turning the wheels full lock left with both brackets unbolted, which in turn moved the rack to the right as it was not bolted down, then i just used my hands to push it the rest of the way, then i had great clearance, then slid it back across and bolted it down once the bush was replaced, the only problem now is cause of the new bushes i cant get the main top mounting bolt back in cause it all sits too high and forward, but ill try something tomorrow
than all for your help
your just silly, sit bac and look at it and think for 2 seconds
Whatever you do, dont try clamping/applying pressure from just the top. they are way to thin and just bend the wrong way!
