so you are trying to put 86 brakes on 86 coilovers?
the hub is sits on the stub axle with the bearings inside of the hub. with a big nut on the end of the stub axle.
what caliper are you trying to run?
Hey guys
I’m not sure if this is a stupid question but it’s got me waced.
I pulled my ra60 coilover struts out of my ke70 on the weekend, to replace them with new ae86 coilovers I’ve got...
My RA60 struts look like this rite.....
And you can see the two big holes on the bracket where the brake caliper bolts too....
However when I took out my ae86 coilovers it’s obvious they are different.
Instead of seeing the two big holes where my new brakes ( JDM 86) will bolt too, i can only see 4 small holes on a small pissy looking bracket.
The bracket looks like it would hold the backing cover but dosnt even look capable of holding a brake caliper...
Looks like this..
Then after inspecting the calipers and 86 hubs I’m planning to use I can’t see how the brakes/hubs are gonna attach to the strut....
Its got me waced. And after looking at picture of other ae86 coilovers they look the same as mine...
For example the brand new coilovers from AJPS looking exactly the same....
My mate said somthing about an adaptor plate, but I duno how this works....and where i get one...
Can someone please explain, I need my shit lower
Thanks a lot!

what caliper are you trying to run?
AE86 runs a separate caliper bracket/dust shield which bolts to those 4 M8 holes.
you need to find some backing plates, as anthony said.
you can see where the 4 little bolts go in, as well as where the caliper bolts to.
look like this. i dunno what an ma86 is, i just found it on google images.

Yeah the struts are from an ae86 ( no difference between adm and jdm) and then ive got some JDM calipers and disks to run.
So the backing plates bolt onto thoes 4 holes on the bottom of the strut and then the caliper then bolts onto the backing plate?
Isnt the backing plate a thin sheet of metal? They hold the caliper ?

theres the thin dust cover + the 4-6mm backing plate
30kw club
you need these: #19
known as 'caliper mounting brackets', they are a different piece of metal to the backing plate (which is the thin dust cover as pictured above by other people)
ok cool. Now I know.
So they normal come with the strut or the brakes?.....Ive never seen them before...
Any body know any that are forsale ?
THANKS GUYS!

generally they are attached to the back of the backing plate (by heat + 30 years of road grime) and take a bit to unstick them, but i guess they would be included with brakes if you purchased a whole setup.
i had some a while ago, but they are gone now. any brackets from an ae86 will work though, as ADM and JDM use the same ones.
