    Maybe a silly question

but could you have left the stock rails, and just lifted the engine slightly?
By moving the wheels so far out, you could cut into the side of the engine bay above the chassis

i realise handling means engine low... But this is just a thought

i noticed as i look into your window at night. you roll about in bed and say 'ooohhh oohhh zebra'.

just thinking..... with those guards that big (assuming they will be stuffed full) meaning heaps of track and with the engine that low and a little further back then standard (?) it really will be very go-kart like in the dynamics ay.

i have always been a diehard inline fan, but im starting to see some sense in a flat motor. kinda similar to a rotor in weight positioning.

long time no see dave, if i lift the engine anymore the tail shaft will be too high in the car, as it is, i may have to make a whole new tunnel, plus there is no point in going to all this effort, and not taking advantage of the real benefits, if that make sense. But modifying the rails may mean i cant run superlap but we will see.

hey ae71, thats the plan, an over powered, supergrippy go kart with a lid, whether it happens like that is yet to be determined but i hope it works that way hahaha.

And you're right it is the piston equivalent to a rotor in weight, but better because it wont break, or sound like shit. Once you get past the rails, it is a very easy and theoretically smart conversion to do. People that don't have a good understanding of subarus will always see them as over complicated but the truth is they are basic, and in many ways alot easier to work with, so i think i have made the right choice.

As for the kit, mix jgtc with n2 and group b insanity, and that is what i am aiming for, will probably end up looking like shit but as long as it goes i dont really care, just want it to stop raining, or for a shed to grow.

thats the third time someone has posted that, different forums though.

Something might happen this week, have 200 buckers for steel and welding wire, and no rain. Woooooooooo

Can a mod change the title too please?

    Gunner's EJ86: Built For War.

    Thanks.

    Thanks guys.

As for the gaurds and bumper, I dunno yet, not really a concern at the moment.

Bought my diff yesterday, it's out of a v8 commi. So has big disks etc etc, the axles and centres can be had very easily, and a fair bit cheaper than jap stuff, and I won't be able to break it, like every other diff I have had over the years. Only one I haven't broken is in the mirage (knocks on wood). Also I have been looking into running a triangulated 4 link or tri link what ever you want to call it, but I am unsure whether it will hold the diff in place, with out the need for a watts link, or panhard. Or whether it will rip itself out of the car. Any one got any experience with them?

Bought some welding wire last week, weldcor, I think it was, its fucking shit, won't use it again. So my new wire will be here with the rest of my sheet steel on thursday, so if I stop being sick, and it doesn't rain (I really need a shed), the front end will be completed and engine bay painted next week I hope. Then I need to save and save and save for my halfcut.

    So, no not much progress.
