Sounds a bit like a blocked exhaust. Though I've only heard of cat converters blocking up, and would imagine you don't have one.
Check the spark plug condition. They should be white if it's starving for fuel.
Hi Guys
im having some weird goings on with my 4age in my 86.
it's a bigport which is running a EMS computer.
the car seems to start ok, idle ok and run ok at low RPM's.
once i start to go past 3k it hesitates and doesn't go. also, their is a lot more induction noise than usual which is weird.
now i have been over and over the timing belt config, Dizzy teeth config and confirmed timing is ok, but still no luck. i havent gone as far as changing plugs (due for it) and leads, but i didnt think they would cause this issue.
am i safe to say that it sounds like a fuel issue once im under load it starts to starve.
i would think so, but the odd induction noise puts me off thinking this.
any idea's?? the fuel pump is an ae82 in tank conversion.
some pointers would be good.
cheers
Paul

Actually your right on that part, the cat fell apart. ive had it out and the center dropped out.
since then though it still the same.
and yes, i will check the plugs again. good point on the fuel
i have the same kind of problem, my mechanic mate who works on 4ages all the time is convinced it is an electrical or wiring issue if its not fuel pump or regulator, ill post back if i get mine running sweet with what i did.
