Update
Trimmed the rest of the lexan off and drilled the rear holes for the body mount
Still needs a quick sand before washing/masking.
cheers
Hi all,
It's been awhile since my MR2 project () so I figured I'd whip out one of my fairly rare/discontinued (1991) Tamiya bodies and start on something to keep my preoccupied.
It is an original Tamiya Calsonic R32 GTR made in 1991 and not the reproduced version that's been re-released to the market. Perhaps one of the best attributes of using Tamiya bodies is that their moulds are near on identical to the scale cars and the wing and mirrors are all made of hard plastic for a proper fit and finish. The bonus is, if you run an older style Tamiya chassis, then chances are the body holes pre-drilled from factory will fit that chassis (as it did for mine). Newer bodies released by Tamiya also include 'light buckets', they house the optional lights/LED's for an even more realistic touch.
Anyway less talk more pics.
As said, Tamiya Calsonic 1/10 R32 body
With the wheel arches and some of the plastic cut off, alot more to trim off though. In it's infancy stages yet so awhile to go.
Excuse the rear height, I'm using upright posts (for the previous STi 22B/MR2) so I'll have to redrill new holes to suit and lower the body over. Wheels are Slidemaster 37R's +10mm offset. In 1:1 scale, thereabouts of 18 x 10 + 15 offset RAYS TE37 concaves (they look more like Rota Grids lol).
And for those wondering what chassis that is, it's a Tamiya TL01 with every conceivable hop-up option (mod) pretty much.
Will be slow going on this as I'm currently doing some engine work on the 1:1 car
cheers

Lots of interest so I guess I'll put up more updates lol
Finished the last of the trimming and sanding so it went in for a wash.
After drying, in went the masking tape. Managed to lose to the original mask so had to fabricate some from scratch, tedious work to say the least.
Painted and masked the bonnet for the carbon fibre treatment but it didn't turn out so flash as it started to rain, the adhesion of the tape took a beating but ah well.
What it looks like now. Abit more to go. Still waiting on tires and needs the last of the decals.
cheers
Looking Good!
Thanks Dom
Another update
Genuine HKS vinyl cut decals (brother got it for me while he was at the Tokyo Auto-Salon this year) and fitted the rest of the window lining. Also did the body lines and added some things here/there (cross bar/wiper).
Still waiting on tyres, maybe next week.
cheers
