    R32 four-doors are not heavy.

With 12k I really wouldn't be putting much into any of these cars. Build something simple for half that and learn to drive it

    Will be way more enjoyable.

As Cool as mx73's are, Id rather a r31, shits simple, everything bolts in, rb30 can make decent power, easy manual, everyone knows what works with them

Mx73 on the other hand, bit different, no aftermarket gear really, manual hard to find, has to be really low to look good on 14s. and as for spare parts, there arnt that many mx73s around compared to 31s.

you have 12k and your looking at a r31? they are for people with sub 5k budgets lol
just get a built s13 or r32 or something with a near stock motor.
or just do a basic r31. they are great beginner cars but yeah their potential is alot lower cause of the shitty live axle.

Thinking of S13 with decent supporting mods. Not exactly "shakotan" but at least they have cool stuff like IRS, and don't have to mess with gearbox and engine swaps. It will not be done half- arse though.

shakotan in a nutshell is pretty much "spastic low" usually accompanied by wide wheels.
