Default Knysna Hill Climb In South Africa 22-24 october VIDS ADDED !!!

So we've been looking forward to this event since the cancellation of the Ceres KOTM.

My Cuzn entered the event with his built S14 (350kw 11sec monster) But, since he only has that car a few months and doesn't know it as well as he knows his V8 Lumina UTE (known in OZ as the Holden) , he decided to rather enter with the UTE.

We drove thru to knysna thursday night. Arrived at our "top billing" house at Pezulla Private Estate.

Settled the wife and kids in and got a good nights rest (after the obligatory barbie of course)

    Friday Morning:

We get to the event, which runs on a 1,9km slight twisty road just below Simola Golf/ Spa / estate (Simola is also a major sponsor) and set the Lumina up, Swop out the road wheels for Semis, check tyre pressure and oils, brakes the whole tootie.

Car's ready! Driver goes to register, and the pit crew (me included ) find our vantage spots to watch the run. (will post videos once they're uploaded)

Now the rules are simple, the fastest 15 cars on friday, go through to saturday and Sunday.

Our driver lines up, and does a 57.369 and ends up 23rd
    2nd qualifying he does a 54,370 and lays 16th
3rd run he does a 53,813 :thumb: but lands 22nd in the list.

Then renault (main sponsor) has journo's (about 20) race their new twingo and Sciroco looking thing up the pass. Each journo gets to do the pass 3 times in each car  this took a few hours, and halfway through the organisers realise, there's not enough time for QUALIFYING runs?

We're then told that the morning runs were practice runs and that everybody who entered Friday, qualify to run Saturday

So it rains friday evening and the pass is wet and full of dust saturday morning. Cuzn's ist run and he does a 55.014 and ends up 12th overall for that "QUALIFYING" run.

He runs 2 more times, but they dont record it.

By 13h00, they put up the "qualified drivers' and he's name is NOT on the list, but two cars in his class who DID SLOWER TIMES, did qualify? Fookers !!!

I guess some people were right, the Knysna Hill climb is for rich so 'n so's who wanna show off their mutli million dollar cars that they cant even drive

We DID howevr make the most of the trip after that, took the wives and kids out and bbq'd till we were out of wood and then sum more
    Vids to follow soon.
