really keen to see how you go about keeping the tunnel untouched ,
even uncle paz with 50mm crossmember spacers hard a world of hammering and such.
and your going to love building THIS set of extractormores
hope you keep this up to date man
Gunner not all things :p Fill me in too! How's my parts going? Did you get my pm brah? Seamus, I too am very interested in sharing some info on how to do this conversion properly and nicely, essentially unlike the yanks...

In and running by march morning sesh I heard
stroked 2L ca18-ae86 in the build...eta xmas 2012?
Good luck Seamus! I think everyone will be eagerly watching this thread!
Cheers, plohl
Haha thanks guys
johl: I don't even get back until the middle of march, so fat chance. Hopefully have it done in a month or two though.
pat: I'm going to "notch" the top part of the bellhousing - it isn't there for flywheel clearance or anything, it's just designed like that because of the F20's gumby tallness. So it shall be removed and rewelded.
Check pm from me Seamus, but are you going to run standard management? I am, not deterred by how difficult people are saying it is, I was one of the first to run the blacktop with standard ecu and it's the best! There are quite a few trickies with this one though that I'm trying to work out....
thought that was going to be the go didnt want to jinx it though get into it!

Hey Seamus, I gotta ask, you didn't have some kind of failure with the 7a 20v did you? If you did, I'd really like to know the details because I started buying parts for my 7a bottom end and I was going to build it just like you described in this thread. Let me know so I don't buy too many parts before it's too late or something! Thank You! <3
jeremy: Yep definitely stock ECU. The wiring (as far as i can ascertain) is relatively straightforward - there's about 17 wires, most of which are power and grounds - the rest are things like door open lights, handbrake, headlights, beams, and (i think) a single fuel pump wire which you can just run to the AE86 fuel relay thingo. I'll know better once i get closer to that time
grant: No way, 7A was awesome as hell. The most unreliable part in it was the stupid 20V ecu (and the idle controller), which eventually was ditched for an adapt. After that, it was just regular oil changes and typical corolla reliability awesomeness. I would/will definitely do another 7A again, i just had the opportunity to buy an F20C for a killer deal - and i've wanted to do it ever since watching the black trueno on best motoring.
Hey Seamus
Looking forward to seeing the progress on this new project. Would be an intresting conversion and a lot of fun when running I'm sure...Lol. There's a few on FC20 powered AE86's on AE86.ORG. Maybe you could get a few idea's from the one's the guys have built, what works best etc. Is this the you were talking about? Looks like a weapon and has done very well on the drifting circuit, it's up for sale at the moment.
