Car: KE70
Motor: 4k at the moment.
Use: To be drift and occasional grip.
Problem: Cant decide on which engine to convert to.
Occurs/started when: I began looking for more power.
Personal situation: "I am in a pickle!" (Anchorman)
Hey all. I recently read in ZOOM magazine that the 3RZ-FE motor out of locally delivered hiluxs are pure liquid wonderment especially with the addition of a turbo. They reckon that the motor makes 112kW @ 4800rpm and 240nm @ 4800rpm in stock NA form. It is a cast iron block 2.7 litre 4cyl with a DOHC 16valve aluminuim head. They come with the W series gearbox from the factory. After a quick google search I noticed a few people have used them in older ke corollas (30s etc.) and are usually set up for drag racing. Now as usual I have a series of questions:
[1] Has anyone ever used one of these motors for drift? With what results? (The main reason I ask this question is that the power curve of these engines peakes pretty low in the rev range) and;
[2] Would a set of cams, adjustable cam gears and a bit of head work be enough to lift or spread this power across the rev range to be more suited to limiter bashing drift style of driving? What setup have you heard of/used for drift?
[3] How much more does it weigh than an SR20det and would this engine affect handling if mounted without firewall modifications (recessing)?
Any info would be much appreciated
