Nah, it isn't that easy. You can't just put the twin cam head onto a 22R block.

so yeh, sounds pretty iffy for like how much power gain? what would be the motivation behind it?

Put it this way:
3sge. Cool, its toyota, twin cam and would break more dorpometers. But buying one, converting it to rwd, finding and mounting a W series gearbox and all the other bits would be a couple of grand.
VN commodore v6. Can get an engine and gearbox package here for $400. Fit pretty well in a corona. Has way more power than 3sge. and my corona is a ute so I don't care too much about authenticity.
Just seems more logical.

I was also under the impression that if you have a manual 2SC Corona, the 3SGE/3SGTE will bolt straight up to factory crossmember/engine mounts/gearbox/bell housing. Likewise with the 18RG in a 22RE Corona. So , yeah, not much of a conversion?

not much of a gain either? lose torque, gain HP.
