15.8 with an exhaust leak and a very humid night... first time at the drags too so room for improvement.
60 footers not bad, that can be worked on, but 12.9 @110 (175km/h) seems like its got some good top end! with that trap speed and average 60ft (1.8-1.9) shoould clock about 12.5 @ 110-115 (175-185kph) easily enough.
maybe try some less crap tyres or borrow some semi slicks of someone and see how it goes.
also maybe drop a couple of PSI out of the tyre (around 20-25psi is usually pretty good) and set you rear shocks to the softest setting.
^^^On the money xero.
Don't be scared of using a retread either, best budget drag tyre you can get, just don't cook them, when doing your burnout (they will get greasy). Going back a few years now, I ran a 205/60/14 retread on the back of a vl with a little less power than you are making and ran 12.6@112 consistantly. Also if you want to step it up look into drag specific shocks for when you go out to the drags, like a 90/10, provide awesome squat, will make them bum sit nice and flat on the launch. Suspension is good for alot of time on the strip, so worth looking into if you want to go quicker.
more of just an FYI than anything, but was it a just a weekly meet (like we have a WSID every wednesday) or a proper group 1/2/3/4/5 round?
the reason i ask is that usually when its a weekly street car meet they will set the track more for slip than grip. so a that normally launches at say 4000rpm on at points round will grip (due to better track prep) most likely will spin the wheels this time. they track officals do tis so there is less breakages and oil downs and can keep the cars moving through qiuckly.
as gunner said, a few minor things can get you some big gains. but if you dont want to go to much trouble just do the basics (soft shocks, tyre pressure) and just work on your launches.
Been out to test and tune 3 times now. In my NA stock 20v silvertop ae71 my best was 15.511 at 90mph or so.
I enjoy walking around and picking races with people driving similarly matched cars. Its a shitload of fun. Its great on those iffy nights with a few clouds in the sky because nobody shows up. Last time I went (with Timbo) we were literally driving straight to the front of the cue and racing over and over, and some dude brought his sexy girlfriend and since I was racing and chatting with them in between runs she decided to give me full driveway timeslip service, which takes away the one annoying thing, sifting through 200 slips to find yours.
Im keen to go again and see how my motor is performing at the mid to top rpm range, now that I have done some further tuning.
