cant you punch the studs out of your hubs and put longer ones with abigger slipon?
Ok so I have some wheels I want to run on my car with my new big brakes.. I have two problems.
1. FC calipers hit the inside of my wheels
2. wheel studs are too short for the new wheels
I originally was going to use slip on spacers & long wheel studs on the stock hubs... however slip ons still dont give me enough clearance.
I am now thinking of getting hub adaptors (20mm). However the studs will still be too short!
So pretty much I need some hub adaptors with long studs, anyone know where I can get some?
I have also thought of buying a pair of adaptors, punching out the studs and fitting longer ones. But I dont know if that would be a good idea since they are all made of alloy. Also im not sure if the studs fitted to the hub adaptors are the same as the stock Toyota ones... Could pose a problem when mounting new studs.
What are your thoughts?

they would be too short because they need to go through some long slip on spacers and then the wheels.
If you get these make sure they are very nicely fitted to located on the center ring of the hub and also the middle of the wheel, hub centric as they as.

i know the studs would be too short if they have to pass thru a sizable slip-on spacer first.
as I had the same problem with my SSR MK3s and large brakes... ended up using a 10mm slip-on and landcruiser studs for the extra length.
but if he's going to use a bolt-on spacer the length of the studs in his hubs won't matter. and if the studs in the bolt-on spacer are too short then something is very strange with the wheels...
My wheel studs are not too short for a bolt on spacer. They will bolt on no problem.
The studs on the bolt on spacer are too short for the wheels. To fit the wheels I want, I need longer studs.. Therefore the studs on the bolt on spacer itself need to be longer, this is where the problem lies.
To use these wheels I need bolt on spacers with extended studs.
A 10mm slip on will not give me enough room. I spaced out the wheel 8mm and they were still fouling on the caliper fairly badly. I need at least 15mm clearance.
I wont run anything over 10mm that isnt bolt on and hub centric.
So the problem still lies .. unless I get different wheels, which I dont really want to do.
Derek, what brakes are you running?
new studs in bolt on spacers will be fine.
I'm using R32 4pots. You shouldn't have a problem as most bolt-on spacers have fairly long studs.
But I'm curious what rims you've got that need such long studs? I hope this isn't your problem;

The wheels are old school classics, but they are Australian old school classics. Looking at their website those wheel nuts do look like the ones you mentioned Derek..

urk... save yourself the effort, turn those horrid things into a garden hose reel and buy some nice rims that have enough back spacing to clear large brakes!
