looking at it with some mismatched bits i would have put it down to "its a race car, and sometimes shit gets fucked up and you used what fits instead" in regards to the timing cover, pod filter, washer etc etc.
still looks fantastic in the museum and would be awesome if the cars were reunited

TTA number 1, images of the AE86 000023 in 1984 when it was brand new in the workshop in Japan have just come across my desk.
And there is a brand new N2 next to it under construction. Wish I could have been there.
