I like this stuff.
Wow i had no idea the AE86 had so much history.... I knew about keiichi tsuchia making it famous for drifting, but I didnt know they were ever raced. Did they ever win, and were they ever raced here in Australia?
they did quite well in their own class. i bought my dad this book about motorsport in australia from like 1960 to 1990 or something. a few 86s are in there, ma61 supras and a few other toyotas in there aswell. awesome book too. ill see if i can scan some pictures out of it.
this car is in it a fair bit too
OMG!!!!! I guess this is why the younger generation think that the popularity of the AE86 is totally because of Initial D(no offence Mickey) and the wanky theory of takumi tax!
Check the Guiness book of records, most number of victories in a racing class from starts......100%
International Group A winner
When I bought my AE86 15 years ago, Group A and international circuit racing (n2, clubman cup) is what influenced me.....Initial D....wtf...hadn't even heard of it!!
AE86 the REAL lightweight rwd Toyota...NOT the pretender
