Aaaaahh, so this is why you only use ATF in gearboxes with fucked up destroyed synchros.
I'm using Castrol Syntrans 75W/85, it's a synthetic Gear Oil. I found it really improved the way the synchros feel and it shifts really well. unfortunately its' like $25/L. You can use Auto trans fluid, most people mix it 50% ATF - 50% Gear oil to help improve shifting. The problem with running 100% ATF in gearboxes designed for Gear oil is that it doesn't have all the friction modifiers in it to help stop synchro wear.

You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
so that would be a thick diff oil, mixed with a thin auto fluid... you might as well just use a thin gear oil.. if you just use straight dex 3 will be beautiful..
Doesn't ATF have small particles in it to help the clutches in the auto boxes to engage?
I would have thought that if it did those particles would cut a rooted box to shredds in second.
Please correct me if I am wrong (probably am).
btw the guy who rebuilt my mates box in his BMW said he should run a thick engine oil like Penrite older engine. Is this a good thing to use or not?
