hey guys, im just wondering, for a 4age conversion (big/small port) does an AE86 require a mod plate?
i'm in QLD if that matters
thanks

You do need a certificate because it's not the original engine. If you get pulled over by cops that know what they're doing you'll get defected and proby fined or something or if you want to get a roadworthy you're supposed to have the mod plate.
Also if you're in accident and want to claim insurance (especially 3rd party property for the new mercedes you hit) if you don't have a mod plate or haven't told the company you've got a different engine you won't get the money.
You can get away without one but its like driving without a lisence. You're fine till you get done...
except theres less chance of getting done. that said you could get yourself int ALOT of trouble. it is very easy to get a mod plate. there are mobile blokes that do it, it costs about 100 bux, all you really need is a ULP filler neck restictor and a cat.

yeah get a plate!!! big drama's if you don't with insurance etc, like slydar said costs $100 get caught without one could cost you big $$$$ especially not running a cat converter.
thanks guys, i wasnt sure, cause the car came with one in jap land came with one, and when i upgraded my old celica from 3sfe to 3sge, i didnt have to mod plate, cause it had come from the factory as an optional motor for that model or something..
anyway thanks for clearing that up
I think it would be like that if wed got the jap spec 4ag sprinters... stupid not geting the good engines
