Also im assuming an easy-out will pull out the bolts??? iv never used one before
Hey all,
While servicing my car yesturday i noticed that i have broken all the bolts off from the bracket that holds the block to the mount. There are three bolts and the heads have broken clean off all of them. I was just wondering if anyone has also done this and how, so i know how much force was needed. Im pretty sure overtightening would mostly of been the cause. So now im cruising around on one mount and the g/box crossmember supporting the engine till monday but it could of been like this for a while so im not to concerned.

How tight did you touqe up the bolts. As I tightened mine up pritty tight and might have to loosen them after reading this. Also does anyone know how tight engine mount bolt should be?
when i was putting the mounts on my engine there was a bolt left in the block. we tryed one of the easy out kits (i think thats it..) but it didnt budge, i think the bolt may have been in there a long time.
i ended up just leaveing that bolt of the mount as i still had three, but i would reccommmend getting the bolts professionally drilled out if you cant get them out too easily.
Didn't do it, my engine conversion was perform by a n00b, i just fix his fuk ups

All the correct torque settings can be found in the 4age workshop manual in the tech articles section. You would need a long breaker bar to overtension them. They about 12.9 tensile or something crazy if i remember.

To get broken bolts out first lubricate the bolt then tap a groove on one side of the top of the bolt with a flat head screwdriver then hold the screw driver at about a 45 degree angle and tap the bolt around anti-clockwise.
If anyone understands my explaination could you make a diagram or explain it better?
Your explanation is pretty good man... I know exactly what your saying...
If you have a mig welder.. or can borrow one.
Weld a washer to the broken bolt. then further weld a bolt on top of the washer. and screw it out. This would be the cleanest way i would think. Getting them drilled out is too messy.
Id say it would of been caused by over tightening. And i would think it would be wise to get it done sooner rather then later. for caution.
