I know this is probably a tad amature but ever since I've put a stereo (head unit, amp, sub and speakers) in my girlfriends civic there is this buzzing sound that comes through the speakers in tune with how the car is revving. How do I fix this? Is it just the emf from the battery cable interfering with the other cables?

had to put one in my old gemini, when i installed a cd player.
i thought it was a massive gimmick, but it worked
is the buzzing noise coming out of the speakers that are connected to the amp?
an easy way to test for ground loops is to get a peice of wire and put it between the outside of the RCA lead (just squish it in there somewhere) and put it to ground

In addition to the ground loops, make sure your speaker/signal wires do not run parallel to any other wiring, especially the amp power wire (if you have one). Most common rule is to run speaker wires down one side of the car, power wires down the other side.

try putting the earth (ground) wire on whatever you have i.e headunit, amps etc. somewhere else (better maybe)
its always the friggen earth wire...if that fails then try the noise filter, in most cases they work but you shouldn't need them if you get good EARTH
make sure the RCA cables do not cross the power wire at all.
other wise wrap the rca cables in alluminium foil. trust me it works.
in my experience with noise supressers they dont work at all.
just go over the installation and make sure the rca cables are seperate
inductance is bad mmmkay.
segregate the speaker wires from power, check your earths & check the speakers are wired correctly....they usually arent polarity conscious but should be connected in a like manner
also what speakers are you usuing and what size cable?

thats not true ground loops are exctly that, a loop of a ground wire, this acts as a crude antanna. Adding another earth will probly not solve noise issues
when you playing around with high power high frequancy stuff you quicly learn how bad inductance and coupling is
