The 4 speed ford box(from pinto/2ltr) has the following shocking ratios(well 1st to 2nd anyway)
1st 3.65
2nd 1.97
3rd 1.37
4th 1.00
Note there are a number of companies around that do a first gear for this box, I have seen 2.98 and 2.88, it makes the 1-2 shift much nicer.
fyi, the RS1800(very rare) used this same box but with these ratios
1st 3.36
2nd 1.81
3rd 1.26
4th 1.00
the mx5 5 speed has these ratios
1st 3.136
2nd 1.888
3rd 1.330
4th 1.00
5th 0.814
old Mazda 626 rwd
1st 3.214
2nd 1.818
3rd 1.296
4th 1.00
5th 0.860

Caterham 6 Speed 2.69 2.01 1.59 1.32 1.13 1.0 (6th)
Just posted this for a quick guideline
What does this come in? & are they cheap?

the caterham(6 speed) is a quaife box, they do a number of different ratios, but your looking about $18K(with our crap dollar now) for a sequential box
That's part of the reason I went MX5 years ago, nice ratios, and cost me fuck all.
1st 3.73
2nd 2.269
3rd 1.646
4th 1.269
5th 1.00
6th 0.843
use 1st just to get rolling then ignore it and look at the other ratios
With a 240 hp 20v
millington diamondd
300+ at this stage (early days) same box
