anyone know a 185/55/14 tyre for the rear which isnt too grippy ? street use so not doing high speed stuff.
What sort of psi do people run in their rear tyres?
Dry: 30-35 depending on type of tyre.
Wet: 18-24 again depending on tyre.
As for rear tyres, this is what I have found. (Always had R1R's on the front).
Jinyu (195/50/15): Grip level is ok, nothing flash. Massive smoke. Decent tread wear, always wears evenly can probably do 8 laps of Winton on a pair.
Khumo Ecsta SPT (195/50/15): Probably my favorate rear, good grip level. They last quite a while too and also wear really evenly.
Neutons (195/50/15): GREAT grip, which is surprising because the 17" suck. Smoke a bit. Dont seem to last too long though, probably even less than the Jinyu's.
Toyo R1R (195/50/15): MASSIVE grip, as to be expected. Absolutly dominates any half worn clucth but wear starngely, never delam though. Best rears for the wet.
Im trying some sunfulls in the next couple of week, will report back.
Where are you getting the Jinyus from? What engine in your 86(?) when you've used the Khumo Ecsta and Jinyu?
i run 44psi in my rears, cant stand grip but thats just me not going hard enough
Was getting them through Pidwells, but the supplier (freedom tyres I think) is out of stock at the moment.
Should have mentioned that, all the tyres I mentioned were in a 86 powered by SR.
can anyone help me out im looking for some skidders for 14x7 , only got a smallport so dont want em too grippy. thanks
