Thread: can you run an oil cooler between your remote oil filter

    i have an oil cooler and a remoter oil filter which is going on my sprinter and i was wondering can you run an oil cooler between your remote oil filter housing and the housing that srews onto the block im pretty sure you can but i want some reasurance cheers

    Yep you can.

    It goes..

    Out of engine>to remote mounted filter>through the filter>out of filter in oil cooler>out of cooler>back into return engine.

    Just make sure your cooler can cope with full oil pressure and full flow.

    With a setup like that ALL the oil that is going to your engine goes through the cooler first and is at full pressure.

    On the other hand AE82 coolers are a bypass system where some oil gets cooled then dribbled back into the sump. These only flow a little bit and so may be restrictive if used for full flow.

    What brand of oil filter sandwhich plates are people using and what size port do they have. I'm looking for a sandwhich plate that mounts to the block with -10 fittings.
