    hoihoi

just wondering guys, has anyone acutally measured how much weight can be removed from a ke70 by stripping it? this includes the works, sound deadining, plastics, anything that isnt needed lol.

i did a search on toymods, the only single result i found was someone estimated around the 55kgs, i assume this includes the spare tyre, and jack aswell.

anyone else got an estimate? or a figure?

    cheers guys

the tar layer on an ae86 is meant to be 27kg, the ke is meant to have an almost identical floorplan so it might be the same,

    thats a start I guess

I can't remember now, but I think I got my Sprinter from 960kg to 860kg. The 860kg was all standard spec, 4A-C etc, no spare tyre, all seats removed except the drivers seat. All sound deadening removed except under the driver seat and the firewall.

All the sound deadening tar is around 30kg if you get all of it. The front seats weigh alot.

70's have less deadening than 86's

hachi's have it behind the rear seats in the boot floor. KE's don't, makes SFA difference anyway. you don't really pull much weight out stripping the interior. in saying that i still do it. its happening to the 70, not for weight though, i have dogs, they malt, makes my car stink like wet dog when i take them to the beach

i'll say its not worth it for weight reduction alone.

however, it looks sick and is easier to keep clean.

it gets hotter especially the passenger floor (4AGE, ZE, 20V, CA, SR,) as the exhaust is now on that side. it gets noisier. adds a pretty different "feel" to the car though, just a wank factor but it feels a little "boy racer style"

i'll be doing it when i find a half cage. my interior was mint i wanted to keep it in there but now its pretty poor.

    Race car feel FTW

Heres what ive taken out of mine so far:

    Hektic sub - 10kg
Air Conditioning condenser and piping - 8kg
    5kg of deadner - 5kg weighed
    Spare + jack + wheel brace - 13kg
Rear seats, parcle shelf - 14kg
    Air conditioning Motor - 7kg

All up around 58kg's with the rear door trims and about 60% of the deadening still in the car.
Anyone know what the rear door trim weighs? My above weights are all measured, not estimates.

    in my 86,
everysingle bit of sound deadener is gone, all the heater, condenser etc, only the dash skin sits there, anything else in the car thats not needed for racing is gone, ive also gone perspex windows on quarter panels and doors, this has got me to 878kg, and this is with a full rollcage, and other various braces.
With FRP doors hatch and bonnet I should be way under 800kg and will have more to go with fuel tank and such.
