It doesnt always matter how many restrictions there are, or how much education there is, there will always be a bunch of kids who don't care and do stupid things on the street and get caught or end up crashing.

I totally agree with you. but at least a bit more education will make them more aware of the dangers. Hopefully. you will never be able to allow for the "dickhead factor".

The 'dickhead factor' can be removed by encouraging taking cars out on track or a big skidpan. That's how I get it out of me, I go to QR and go nuts As for the practicality of getting kids and their cars on a track, lets just say I don't know.

Education does help, because it places you in situations that you don't know about. Anyone remember Last Chance Learners? Those were more than stunts, they were encourage the drivers to learn something different and important.

Of course we won't talk about the large percentage of drivers from other age groups that are just as bad, if not worse, at driving on the roads than some of us young 'uns.

Scare the living shit out of them, best method. Show them what can happen when they loose control of a car and show them just how easy it is to happen. Then show them archived footage of crashes that have happened. I've seen a car crash in my area where the guy kicked it out leaving a servo, got too much angle and spun out and hit a pole perpendicular. He was killed instantly and wouldn't have been going more than 50kmh. People need a reality check.

I agree that punishing all P plate drivers is really unfair. Just let the dickheads that do stupid shit die. But I recon the laws are not really being enforced at all like a few weeks ago my mate that has only had his p's for about 3 months got pulled over driving his r31 which I think it's got a VL turbo motor or something in it and apparently they didn't even notice. Like I recon that most cops wouldn't even know what to look for. I live next door to 2 of them and I park my Cressida out on the street with the wheels sticking out of the guards and everything and the only thing that they said to me is that I can't have my p plates in the windows

Saying they don't know what to look for is a tad unfair. They've been trained and taught what to look for, they know. It's just the lazy bastard cops that CBF that let it slide by.

sorry to bring this one back up,

But i know because i looked into th rules that came out in July were, Turbo & Supercharged cars, (except diesel + smart car + suzuki cappucino etc), V8's, "nominated high power 6 cylinders", and engines with ANY MODIFICATION TO IMPROVE PERFORMACE, and all porsches..

Examples of engine modifications include any addition or change to the:

    engine management system
    exhaust system (particularly extractors)
    fuel injection or carburettor systems
    camshaft
    Pentaly:

    $1100 fine
    3 demerits (of the 5 you've got)

Plus NEXT year they will be bringing out a curfew i belive, no P plates driving after 11pm i THINK or maybe it was just the passenger restrictions, and also Leaners who got it after July this year, need to log 120hours of practice to be eligible for getting P plates, WHICH i think is a much better rule.

the funny thing i thought was, when i bought my car (march) id heard somthing about this, but i seriously couldnt find anything concrete on it (I seached for ages) and even went to vicroads and asked, they knew NOTHING....but 2months later it was up everywhere, im sure they left it as long as legally possible before informing people of the rules, to "maximize revenue raising".

i applied for an exemption after i confirmed my Turbo car was illegal, asking would they cover me for Depreciation and shit, because i'd have to sell the car, they just said it wasnt thier problem, and the rules didnt say anywhere i HAD to sell it....and said that i shouldnt have bought the car if i knew i was going to get license after July.

    i wish i lived in S.A! haha

2 of my mates are continuing to drive thier cars, my friend (who doesnt even have license yet) just put a T28bb turbo onto his Silvia and is getting like 180rw Kw....haha

anyway, just thought id make you all hate the government a little bit more haha.
