Just did a freshen up on the crf.
Went to a 31OZ flywheel to make the slow stuff more manageable, and its great its real hard to flame out in the seriously slow going. I like the tall first gear but it would just stall too easy especially on the uphill switchbacks I've been doing on some trails. Now its kinda best of both worlds, you have the tall first gear and its really hard to stall. Its also smoothed the delivery some which should help get traction and not just bust out like it used to.
Gave it a big fistfull up my steep grassy driveway and it cut nice square holes around the knobbies and hooked up ideally with no extra wheel spin.
I did some reading, and the 2008 model Hondas like mine made the hardest hit in their power delivery of almost any 450 4T of the last 5 years, mostly due to the enlarged carburettor and the lightest flywheel that Honda had ever put in the CRFS. This is what Ive been trying to manage with my tuning, and with the flywheel its done it. Cant wait to go for a longer ride and see if it helps with fatigue too. One handy thing they did was multi mapping for ignition. So you have a more manageable surge in first and second gear then the full power is unlocked with the 3/4/5th gear map. Right now its a great trailbike, for a motocrosser, haha.
Other recent mods include a trail tech stand, as Im sick of leaning it against shit all the time when I have to get off it.
I just fitted the white acerbis kit to it, and gave it a big clean, and also did both oil changes plus the filter.
Running sweet.
Might look into a different front tyre, as this front is shit.

i have a pile of parts to put on it but wont be done for a couple of months when i get some free time to muck around with tuning the ecu
