My worst story:
When I was in the supra club, we did a formal drop off for a group of girls and their partners. there was a group of ten mark4 supras, we were dropping them at riverside Brisbane, and just did a detour through the CBD at 7 or so on a Friday night so the girls got the most out of the ride and got to have everyone looking at them which they loved.
As we were just heading up the main strip Steve (at the back) who had a pretty loud exhaust on a Non Turbo, fed it a little in first then changed quickly, nothing really out of the ordinary. Next thing we know we had a squad car pull us all over. He called in for a few more cops and we had 2 bikes and an old traffic "specialist" come in for blackup, as ten white boys and girls in formal dresses can really get out of hand.
We asked what the problem was, but they wouldnt answer us and just talked amongst themselves, we explained that we were taking the group to a formal which was about 500m away at that point.
Then, before we know it, the cops started reaming us and accusing us of "racing" dangerous illegally modified cars through the city.
Steve fessed up that he was the one that fed it in first, no-one else had done anything but crawl along, the cop told him he had been breaking the speed limit (he wasn't even there when we were pulled over). Steve explained that he was in first and changed to second, and that he can only do about 50km/h in first in an NA.
Cop went on a 5 min speel about how 1970s Toranas could do 120km in first gear and that was he calling him a liar and that you don't know shit you little punk... blah blah yelling, going off his nut. maybe his wife had left him that morning who knows.
Some of the girls were getting a bit distressed now as the police were being a bit aggressive and this was in the middle of the CBD with a crowd of onlookers.
Luckily one of the guys was recording it all on a camera he was taking to the formal, and we told them after about 10 mins of their crap, which really shut them up, the arsehole was looking pretty worried at that point. They hadn't even booked us or told us what we were pulled over for.
End of story is we told them on camera that unless you are booking any of us we are leaving, and did so, except steve who had some bogus speeding ticket written up. Was quite lucky as some of the boys were running 500hp+ and could have been raped.
Told the head of our club who is a lawyer and he made a big fuss with the department, after he showed some of the footage to the police, which could have come across VERY badly on ACA or any other crappy current affairs show.
Best thing you can do for yourself is carry a dictaphone in your car if you are worried and record anything at all when you are pulled over. Deny everything.
