Default Toms Turbo A (ma70) Wangan lover <3

    Turbo A
    1988 ma71 Supra "turbo a" variant.

Purchased this a few years back and it has been on and off jackstands ever since. Im constantly upgrading changing and breaking things. So far ive rebuilt the engine twice for bearing failures caused by oil starvation from silly issues that have been corrected and also have rebuilt the r154 due to 1st gear thrust washer failure and subsequent chewing of the gearset.

The hardcore engineering stuff like block and head surfacing, honing bores, setting clearances, line honing etc taken care of by my engineer Craig at express engine reconditioners in Toowoomba and fabrication of exhaust manifold and dump pipe done by Shannon at MTQ engine systems also in Toowoomba. Shannon and Craig are both awesome at what they do and have answered (endured) all of my questioning and nagging like champions. All the assembly and research was done by yours truly along with A lot of help and technical trickery learned from my mate beau who works as a mechanic in town who also toiled away long hours in the garage with me.. thanks beau also beau is a badass welder haha

    I think thats the lot
    for now

phase four will involve aftermarket ecu (undecided as to which)
and a massive fuel system overhaul (surge tank, bosh 044, 1000cc injectors, afpr and all new fuel lines)
i will build fuel system in mind for even more expansion down the track to accommodate a 2nd Bosch 044 and twin entry rail for e85 tuning!

    MOAR PICTURES

this is of the work im doing to the car currently. invoving the big brakes and forward facing manifold conversion.

The engine bay piccies arent quite up to date but ill be sure to post more pictures soon.

Feel free to comment and ask questions in thread etcetc
So just keep in mind the next time ur at a drift meet and someone asks u why ur not out there ripping it up with the other sikunts, don't say "I'm waiting for my coilovers to arrive" or "my gf wont let me drive sideways", u say "I flatspotted my tyres on my HUUUGE 120km/hr entry and if u missed that then ur TOO LATE BIATCH"

haha thanks. I quite like the 7m i think its a fine engine. It seems to have developed a bad reputation.

they really do have a bad rep, haha just for eating HG apprently the torque specs are too light from factory which is the reason for it

my mate zac has 7mgte ma61 drift car and it goes fine for him jz for me though

yeah that head gasket thing would be the reason. The factory specs are shit. i don’t think there is anything actually wrong with the hardware even. its just not tight enough from factory. either way, metal hg and arp studs definitely solve the issue.

at the end of the day. u can get more out of a 2jz. but for my power goals (responsive 500rwhp) either is fine IMO

ill give ur build threads a read when i get home from work

yeah that would be it then, i was also told that the head bolts were spaced too far apart or something??? do think its a load of shit though as there is only really one spot u can put them, anwhere else and u get close to bores etc

500hp 7m will be impressive man im making 400 with bolt ons,ecu and injectors
