Couple of pics from Sunday's racing..
Raced on Sunday.. Did a new pb at symmons of 58.5 but had a few issues handling wise, also I put 225/50's on the back which seem to have ruined the handling even more.. so I'll only run it with same size tyres front and rear from now on..
Ive got a growing list of things to change.. Shocks are useless.. And I think to make it worthwhile I need to go up in piston size in the fronts.. Which has me trying to work out which way to go about it.. Can go to an inverted 40mm insert with a new strut tube into the oem lowers.. Or go to s14 front end which is tempting due to the ease of coil over and brake kits.. Which is another issue the front brake rotors aren't ideal.. They're heavy and inefficient and it's hard to get a better rotor in the commodore fitment I've used and practicality nothing else will bolt to the DBA hats.. also the GTr sumitomo calipers are at their limit.. So a change of hat and rotor.. Slightly bigger rotor size and better calipers are in order.. All of which might be a waste when still using ae86 struts with the small stub axels, wheel bearings and strut tube size restrictions.. So it's come time for some decision making and money spending.. Money which I'm now again short on
And.. The block is now finally broken.. Broke a chunk of bore out and ripped a head bolt boss off the top front corner..
And the remains of the broken engine.. Known weak spot in the 3s.. It's the only head bolt boss that's not directly connected to the main tunnel by means of a large solid rib.. Instead it's a whole lot of not much because they trimmed it out for the water pump to go there
But anyway, I have an idea to make it stronger and If not the next block Then one after will be a later model block which is stronger and thicker cylinders also..
wow.
