Default Wiring a head unit into an AE86

Is there an acc. AND constant cable on the AE86, or just the constant?

Stupid question... but i can't seem to find an acc and a power.
I've tried testing for it and I can't find it. The previously owners stereo was wired so that the constant from the car was connected to the acc. and constant on the head unit, but it kept causing issues with loud music (loud as in enough to hear it over the exhaust lmao), or when I'd floor it it'd cut out.

I originally thought the head unit pulsed with the music, turns out it was just the head unit loosing power... whoops.

Using a buzzer as a tester (yes, i'm that poor), I notice that the constant from the car gets a significant power boost when the car is running. So maybe it's running both the accessories and constant on the one line?

Your car is definitely meant to have an acc power.

Just splice a wire from the positive terminal of the cig lighter as this is where the factory acc wire should come from anyway. (I'm going off an aw11 wiring diagram but im 90% sure its exactly the same. There should be a 15A fuse for "radio cig")

Ehhhh just finished wiring everything up... It's pretty ugly in there :\

I've wired it up the way it was before, except this time I've got the wires properly attached and two "response" speakers from Jaycar. It's running heaps better now, though. I've grounded it to the car as opposed to the earth wire, and it seems to have made a difference.

Acc and constant are both wired up to the const. which isn't desirable, but I'm getting a new interior, so I'll re-run new speaker wires then, and I'll splice the lighter

Thanks for the advice Geoff I'm taking it on board for a later date

If youre going to rewire it later, maybe look at putting your own acc. relay in there?

Seeing youre running a full interior and stuff, it might be handy to have acc. power easily availiable for anything you might want to add in the future (gauges, lights, etc.). That way you can just use the the lighter as a signal, and not draw any extra current through the wires. Also you can then put it in an easy to reach spot so you dont need to rip the car apart to get to it

    I like your thinking
I'll hit you up for some brain picking when I get the new interior
