I doubt you will need a log book for a hillclimb. If you were going to logbook the car it would most likely need to be put down as improved production, but if it is a road car this seems pretty pointless. You should be able to run in a road registered category if it's a road car.

Depends what the hillclimb event is classed as... if its a tarmac rally under cams you'll need a rollcage and much more which will require log booking... but a normal club level hillclimb you can enter with any 'safe' car... rego or not. Talk to the event organisers they'll be able to help you out

I no that cams will not let you run a 4age in gravel rally 70 or 71.The hill climb stuff im not sure about.

The log book and rops forms are on the cams website.

The alloy cages are things of the past and will not be approved by any one,but your new cage has to come from someone

who is accredit to build them .

Because you have to show the paper work ,from where or who made it.(no home made stuff)

Then you can take it to a cams approved scruineer to checked and sign off on it.

If you can be bothered doing that .

May be easyer to stay in the street car class.

How do you know you can't have a 4age in a 70 in a cams event?

    corolla art is right

and in my opinion its a fucking shame

would of made the category so much more interesting in a sea of datsuns and escorts

maybe they will relax the rules one day but its unlikely but with CAMS wanting everyone in newer safer cars (with the exception of the classic/vintage rally)

PS: if cams want to bring in a shit load of hot 2tgs at a good price I will do it

anastasios - Check the supplementary regulations. If it isnt clear or contradictory, as Stains suggest call the even organisers for clarification.
I would be supprised if you have to have a cams cage for a hill climb for that vehicle. (you just need a speed license right?)

Corolla art, Stain. You can run an ae71/ke70 with a 4age in *club* level rallying. See.

However its not possible to run it in PRC (production rally car) as a substitute engine. See Page 8 of the cams manual

I cant speak for other states but in SA, Club level rally's typically mean you do 2 or 3 less stages for the same rallys the PRC guys do. You pay less entrance fee. Sound like a good way to get into driving a rally car to me.

I have run a couple of different cars in hillclimb and sprint events for a number of years here in Victoria with no log book. It definitely isn't compulsory to have one to run at these type of events.

Most sprints I entered in the appropriate class, based on level of modification and engine capacity. For hillclimbs that were in the state championship, my car went in the "non logbooked" class. So you don't have to have a log book to have a run.

All of those ran under CAMS permits.

If you want to run in state or national championship events, and qualify for the appropriate class so you can maybe win a tropy, you will need a log book. Other wise club events are run what you brung, doesn't matter what mods, what engine, roll cage or no. Just get out there and have fun.

Rallying under CAMS regs is a different story to tarmac. But I imagine a 4AGE powered Corolla would be perfectly acceptable at AASA rally events.
