Originally, I bought this car from a drift kiddie from up near Byron Bay. It was fitted with an uber ghetto 20V and microleb, which i ripped out and onsold and fitted to a spoontah.
it put the hektik into hektikness.
.... but that was like 3.5 years ago now.
Where we are at today is....
... a fair bit of work left... but its basically down to bolting shit it and getting the turbo manifold and shit made.

"Not all commodore drivers are wankers, but all wankers drive commodores"
ahhh karl after all these years you still manage to make me laugh with your creative way of describing things. Hopefully the hard work is done now and it'll go fairly quickly from here.
i do my best Matt.... but its not hard to take the piss when you get such "talented" mechanical workmanship material to work with.
anyway..... this might not look like much..... but note that there isnt anything holding up the engine now?
Yep, engine mounts are pretty much done. They are only tacked up right now, but they are pretty much spot on.
Only needs a small bash on the sump for clearance against the drivers side steering rack bracket, and we are in business!
Throttle body/intake manifold looks a bit high, but i test fit the bonnet and there is a good 20mm clearance or more.
Its getting there.....

Nice build! Very interesting.
I was wondering why you went from the 20v to the 18RG?
Also I've seen a bit on Celica LB turbo's, are you chasing figures anywhere near there's?
cos the 20v is a piece of torqueless p00
nah i just dont like the 20v that much, and in reality i had already built the engine and was just looking for a small, light, cheap car to throw it into to make it go fast down the 1/4 mile.
I dont know about these celica LB turbos you talk of..... but im aiming above 400hp.

Putting in an equal length trailing arm set up and other associated drag racing goodies?
nah not going to that length.... this is 90% road car and 10% retarded skid mobile that will see occasional drag racing.
Over time i may develop it further for more serious racing, but not at this point.
Im spending more of my money on making more powahhhhs

They look like this.
They used 18RG with a kkk turbo, Schnitzer made special 16v heads for them.
They made 560hp and are very cool.
ahhh. you are talking about the 153e race engine.....
im not going to that degree just yet.
