So it's overheating but you don't think that's the problem? When was the last time it ran properly and what changes were made between it working fine and it not working fine?
Yeah what is the temp when its ""overheating" ?

Was running fine until the pullet + fan threw itself off the pump at 70kms. After that i replaced the water pump, seals and bottom outlet to one with a temp sensor to run the thermo. That failed and stuffed my radiator after a number of attempts and I have no completely bypassed the heater, running same bottom outlet new alloy radiator and it still fills up the overflow bottle when taking it on a short drive.
As i said it ran completely fine until the water pump failed ever since nothing i have done/replaced has fixed it. it will get to 80 degrees in the garage no dramas and sit there for hours, as soon as its driven it will fill the overflow bottle and stay 80degress.
Like i said if people want to come look at it and i will explain in more detail go for it.
80 degrees is not very hot. You dont need the clutch fan electric fan is fine. If you are driving around and it is emptying the radiator to a point into the coolant overflow, then you have combustion gasses pressurising your coolant system. There is a chance it could be a radiator cap which is an easy and cheap swap. You can get your coolant system pressure checked and CO2 content measured at a shop. That is my internet guess without seeing anything.
Munki - this has occurred on 2 different radiators, leads me to think it isn't the cap. Rather not take it to a shop unless they can sort everything and i can drive it home.
Not sure if it's relevant but have you tried a leak test? I have a compressor at home and can get access to the tools to perform one.

No i haven't - not sure how to
Pretty much checking for leak between the cylinder head and coolant galleys, you may not have any oil mixing with coolant but doesn't meant there isn't a leak. It's easy, you pretty much have a piece of hose with a fitting to screw into where your spark plug goes and the other end has an air fitting then hook it up to a air line and see if the coolant bubbles, if it does then you have a leak somewhere.
But not sure if you want to do that, I should be able get the bit to do it if you want to come over on the weekend.

I would have to drive it from the southside...![]()
Ah yeah, haha. You have an air compressor?
