Welding stub axles
G'day guys.
I'm after BC racing coilovers for my Celica (Ra65) and of course they don't make them..
I've noticed they make Ae86 with no stub axles.. So my idea was to get those and have ra65 stub axles welded on.
Has anyone done this? and does it seem like a viable option?

I've had sleeve kits etc before and i really just like the BC idea.. Base adjust is always win and at the price i can get a pair it's certainly worth it
I had bc coilovers in my 86 and thought they were great at first, then I went in my mates car with kyb shocks and king springs and it out handled my car with the coilovers.
now I wouldn't use them even if they were free.

yes to this, if your going to spend money just spend a little more and end up with heaps better stuff instead of throw away shit.

Once again i'm not particularly interested in having coilovers made or starting a comparison or anything, Was just inquiring if anyone had had any experience with the whole stub axle deal
Just trying to be helpful, allot of coilovers have the stub axle welded on to some degree.
a rule of thumb I was given is for each inch of good weld it will hold approx 1 tonne of weight

sorry didnt intend on starting a comparison, just got the intention you did from this comment ^^. i dont see why you couldnt just get a sleeve kit or weld on your stubs then if your just after cheap height adjustable suspension then

My stuff is base height adjustable, we can also run it with a valve code suited to the heavier vehicle, even just the silvia valve code would be better.
As far as installation goes for eihter kit it's pretty easy, we use a lather to spin out the old strut tube and leave it as an interference fit, press it in, then TIG it on both the top and bottom section.
i have never used them, but the shockworks kits look like there the business
